On Friday night Oct, 24th the Dayville Fire Dept responded to the parking lot of the new Killingly commons for a report a 2 car mva with injuries...Upon Car 63 arrival two cars had collided into each other at the intersection in fron of stop and shop...One transport and three refusals.....

Attawaugan Fire Department responds to Chimney Fire.

On Oct 22, 2008 the Attawaugan Fire Dept responded to their first chimney fire of the year.. At approx 2100 hours the Attawaugan Fire Dept was dispatched out for a report of chimney fire on Mason Hill Road.. Upon arrival of the chief fire no fire was visible but alot of hot spots inside.. Interior crews used a thermal imager and a crew laddered the building to located any hot spots. A bag of dry chemical powder was deployed to extinguish any hot spots.. Station 62 was on scene aprox 45 min......

On Sunday October 19, 2008 the Attawaugan Fire Dept responded to Thompson Pike for a report of a Brush/Grass fire.. Upon arrival of the Attawaugan Fire Dept. Chief there was a small area of grass/brush burning on the side of the road.. Et 162 along with S-162 used handlines to extinguish the brush fire..

On saturday Oct, 18 2008 the Attawaugan Fire held its 2nd annual chilli cookoff.. It was a great time for everyone. There were three quest judges,, Ray Allen Killingly Fire Marshal, Steve Bousquet owner of Bousquet appliances and Zach from Winy Radio. This years winners were 1st place Sterling Fire Dept, Nicole Rowley, Craig Bein 2nd Place Tom Russel Attawaugan Fire and 3rd Place was Jason Burgess from the Danielson Fire Dept... Sterling Fire also took best presentation..

TANKER TRUCK ROLLOVER

ON FRIDAY OCT,17 2008 . THE GALES FERRY FIRE CO, ALONG WITH THE SUBBASE AND PBFD RESPONDED TO ROUTE 12 IN GROTON FOR A TANKER TRUCK ROLLOVER.. UPON FD ARRIVAL THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WAS FULLY INVLOVED IN FLAMES.. THE TRUCK WAS CARRYING PEBBLES FROM DOW CHEMICAL.. ROUTE 12 WAS CLOSED FOR SEVERAL HOURS FOR INVESTGATION FROM LOCAL AGENCIES.
